For the Minimally Invasive Dentist CAD-CAM & Partial Coverage Ceramic Restorations are a natural synergy. While CAD-CAM offers unique and advantageous opportunities for Biomimetic Dentistry, it also comes with challenges. The goal of this course is to train the Minimally Invasive Dentist to Design, Fabricate, & Deliver Esthetic & Adhesively driven Overlays, Onlays, & Inlays.

The course will be divided into two parts, Part 1: CAD (Computer Assisted Design) & Part 2: CAM (Computer Assisted Manufacturing). Part 1 will begin with a review of Preparation & Bonding fundamentals for Partial Coverage Ceramics that directly impact the ease & efficiency in which we can fabricate & deliver. Dr. Schiffenhaus will review his Cerec workflow in detail starting with Scanning followed by Design. Students will be shown basic scanning strategies as well as how to scan with a rubber dam in place, the importance of keeping a biocopy library, & various other tips & troubleshooting methods. Dr. Schiffenhaus will then go through how to marginate complex preps and his design workflow for single and multiple units of Overlays, Onlays, & Inlays. Students will then be given multiple cases to marginate & design.

Part 2 will focus on the CAM side of things - that is the fabrication of esthetic adhesive restorations. Dr. Schiffenhaus will review material selection for cases as well as his shade matching protocols. Students will learn the BAARD post-mill workflows such as sprue removal, cleaning of restoration, finishing & accentuating anatomy, staining & glazing with MiYo 850. Dr. Schiffenhaus will go through post-oven process and treatment of ceramic for bonding & various cementation & isolation strategies. Students will be given multiple restorations to finish & characterize - e. Max will be the main material used but Dr. Schiffenhaus review strategies for other materials. Students will also get hands on practice with cementation strategies.

Dentists may register & bring their assistants for a reduced fee. Assistants will get a complete workstation to themselves - limited spots available. Assistants must be accompanied with Registered Dentist…..

This course will be taught with the CEREC System but principles can be applied to other systems
