The BAARD Advanced Adhesive Solutions for Highly Compromised Teeth Course provides comprehensive on-demand training in the structural, biomechanical, and biological management of severely compromised and endodontically treated teeth.

This program goes beyond technique and material selection. Participants develop a complete decision-making framework rooted in adhesion science, fracture diagnosis, stress distribution, and structural preservation.

Core topics include dentin bond maturation, polymerization stress and C-factor dynamics, fiber-reinforced reconstruction, deep margin elevation, compression dome biomechanics, six fracture modes of teeth, Immediate Pre-Endodontic Dentin Sealing (IPDS), and advanced rubber dam isolation strategies.

The course also features internationally recognized guest faculty who expand the intellectual depth of the program:

  • Dr. Jorge Aravena Diaz — Structural adhesive reconstruction of endodontically treated teeth using a conservative no-post biomimetic approach

  • Dr. Bill Gergis — BAD Matrixology and advanced Deep Margin Elevation techniques for complex class II and subgingival cases

  • Dr. Graham Milicich — The Compression Dome concept and six fracture modes of teeth with biomechanical restorative implications

  • Dr. Marco Carvalho — Immediate Pre-Endodontic Dentin Sealing (IPDS) and bond strength optimization during root canal therapy

  • Dr. Calin Pop — Advanced rubber dam isolation workflows to increase efficiency, predictability, and case acceptance

Through in-depth lectures, interdisciplinary perspectives, and extensive clinical demonstrations—including anterior and posterior no-ferrule reconstructions—this course equips clinicians to predictably restore teeth that might otherwise be extracted.

The guiding principles throughout the program remain clear:

Biology first.
Seal quality second.
Biomechanics always.

What You Will Learn

• Diagnose and classify fracture modes using biomechanical principles
• Apply the Compression Dome concept to restorative design
• Optimize dentin bond durability and stress control
• Perform Immediate Dentin Sealing (IDS) and IPDS protocols
• Reconstruct endodontically treated teeth without reliance on posts
• Design fiber-reinforced foundations for anterior and posterior cases
• Manage deep subgingival margins with advanced matrix systems
• Integrate rubber dam isolation into complex biomimetic workflows
• Sequence restorative and endodontic treatment predictably

Techniques Learned in this Course

Failed Crowns

Students will learn how to manage and replace existing crowns with immediate dentin sealing & adhesive build ups to ensure longevity of the tooth and restoration

Restoration of Endo Treated Teeth

Students will learn a biomechanical framework for restoring endodontically treated teeth, including cuspal reduction strategies, stress redistribution, bonded foundations without posts, and Immediate Pre-Endodontic Dentin Sealing (IPDS) to optimize bond strength and fracture resistance.

Fiber Reinforced Composites & Laminates

Students will learn how to use Ribbond for circumferential and vertical fiber reinforcement to modify fracture patterns, stabilize compromised teeth with minimal or no ferrule, and construct structurally sound adhesive buildups for both anterior and posterior cases as well as EverX Posterior.

Deep Margin Elevation

Students will learn advanced Deep Margin Elevation techniques to manage subgingival defects predictably while preserving periodontal health. Emphasis is placed on matrix mastery, stress control, isolation strategies, and structural adhesive design for long-term durability.

Rescuing Teeth with Little to No Ferrule

Students will learn how to evaluate and reconstruct teeth with minimal or absent ferrule using fiber-reinforced adhesive foundations. Biomechanical diagnosis, fracture mode recognition, and stress redistribution principles guide treatment planning and execution.

Adhesive Build Ups for Onlays & Crowns

Students will learn to design structurally sound adhesive buildups for indirect restorations, integrating dentin hybridization, fiber reinforcement, and stress-controlled architecture to support predictable onlays and crowns.

Rubber Dam Isolation Techniques

Students will master efficient rubber dam isolation protocols for complex restorative cases, including deep margins, severely broken-down teeth, and multi-tooth procedures to ensure seal integrity and adhesive longevity.

đź’¬ What Students Are Saying

“I love Dr. Steve Schiffenhaus! He is passionate about biomimetic dentistry and dentistry itself. I am a CE junkie. I have taken Dawson, Spear, Kois, Misch, etc... Now, I will place BAARD Institute as one of the greats who has improved and changed how I practice dentistry.”

– David Yang

“If I had to categorize Schiffenhaus’ BAARD Institute, I’d put it in the same category as Spear and Kois... I’ve gained a tremendous sense of confidence and competence using his methodology.”

– Sheenayim

“I am consistently blown away by what this institute is offering, especially considering the price... For many dentists, I believe this institute offers more than enough to completely change the way they practice.”

– Rubberdamologist

“Informative, welcoming, supportive instructor/support team/course... Steven is not only the future of dentistry — he is the NOW of dentistry.”

– Virginia Sharpe

“Steve's course was an incredible source of info and protocols which have changed the way I practice dentistry... Truly first-class clinicians and educators.”

– Jake Sladky

“I learned a lot of information over the two-day course, and it really helped boost my confidence... I would definitely recommend to dental colleagues to check out Baard in the future!”

– Jennifer O'Connor

“This course delivered all that, and then some! Steve’s presentations were packed with evidence-based, well-organized knowledge that he explained superbly.”

– Chelsea Harris

“Steve kept us engaged and provided good analogies... I appreciated the cases he showed us from his office and how he was humble enough to show us some of his mistakes too.”

– Christine Manning Stiernberg

“If you want to ease into the world of biomimetic restorative dentistry then I think this is the perfect course... I don’t think I can ever look at a tooth the same way.”

– Sadaf
