What You'll Learn

Practical concepts to elevate the aesthetics, predictability, and efficiency of anterior composite restorations.

Clinical example illustrating shape and contour of an anterior composite restoration

Shape Before Shade

Natural-looking anterior restorations begin with proper formβ€”not simply selecting the perfect composite shade. Learn why contour, line angles, and emergence profile often have a greater impact on aesthetics than color alone, and how focusing on shape can simplify challenging cases.

Clinical example illustrating simplified shade selection with composite layering

Simplifying Shade Selection

Explore when a streamlined one-shade composite approach may be appropriate and how reducing unnecessary complexity can support greater efficiency, consistency, and confidence without compromising aesthetic outcomes.

Clinical example illustrating tooth proportions and space closure

Tooth Proportions & Space Closure

Review practical principles for creating natural tooth proportions, closing diastemas, managing black triangles, and developing restorations that integrate harmoniously with the surrounding dentition.

Clinical example illustrating finishing and surface texture of an anterior composite restoration

Finishing & Surface Texture

Learn how contour refinement, line-angle development, finishing, polishing, and surface characterization contribute to a more natural and lifelike final result.
